Each cover was carried down the Valley of Death on horseback by the Earl of Cardigan at 11 am on 25th October 2004 - the exact 150th anniversary of the charge of Light Brigade.
The above Royal Mail Crimean War were issued on 12 October 2004 by Royal Mail and feature the following stamp designs: 2nd Private McNamara; 1st Piper Muir; 40p Sgt Major Edwards; 57p Sgt Powell; 68p Sgt Major Poole; £1.12p Sgt Glasgow. The Carried on Horseback down the Valley of Death first day cover with the London, Alma Road, Special Handstamp postmark has been produced by Bradbury and features these stamps which can make a very collectible and lovely gift.
