In 1994 the Bank of England celebrated it’s 300th anniversary. Royal Mail would not produce a special stamp issue for this anniversary. Instead, after a lot persauding, they produced a ‘commemorative label’ with four definitive stamps attached - all within a small stamp book.
I was commissioned by the Bank of England to design a special first day cover for this issue. It was hugely successful especially with Bank of England staff and their retired employees, and my own customers. I only have a few of these stunning covers remaining which now retail at £95.
